This administrative role at British Steel plays a key part in supporting the efficient control and despatch of semi?finished and finished products by both road and rail. The position involves planning trailer loads, coordinating material movements and ensuring all loading activities run safely and smoothly.
You will work closely with commercial, logistics and production teams, providing accurate schedule management, data entry and real?time communication to keep operations flowing. A strong focus on safety, attention to detail and excellent customer service are essential, as you will help maintain compliance with all health and safety standards while delivering a dependable and responsive service.
Key Responbilities
Production Support: Assisting with planning. scheduling, and coordinating daily production activities to meet targets.
Data & Reporting: Managing information flow, logistics data and internal reports.
Communication: Acting as a liaison between teams (e.g. production, commercial, transport) ensuring smooth coordination.
Health & Safety: Championing safety culture, ensuring activities adhere to high standards, and potentially coordinating work permits (Management of Work).
Customer Interface: For some roles serving as the primary point of contact for customers.
Logistics Coordination: Supporting supply chain activities including managing transport providers
What we need to know about you
GCSE Grade C/Level 4 or equivalent in English and Maths
Proficient computer skills, including confident use of Microsoft Word and Excel
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships
Strong organisational and coordination abilities, with great attention to detail
A proactive 'Safety First' mindset, ensuring safe working practices at all times
Drive, enthusiasm and a commitment to delivering high?quality customer service
Ability to work effectively in a fast?paced, pressurised environment, managing multiple priorities
