An exciting opportunity has arisen to support the Employee Apprenticeship Lead (EAL) within the Learning and Organisational Development team, part of our Human Resources Department. This new role has been created in response to the EAL's growing and evolving workload.
The successful candidate will play a key role in assisting with the day-to-day administrative tasks and providing support to staff throughout their apprenticeship journeys. This is a great opportunity for someone who is organised, proactive and passionate about supporting learning and development across the organisation.
Main duties and responsibilities
The successful applicant for this role will support administrative support which will include tasks such as preparing apprenticeship documentation, managing and monitoring staff enquiries, providing guidance to staff completing their apprenticeships, assisting with recruitment, liaising with training providers, managing relevant inboxes and communication channels and using various support systems, including the governments apprenticeship platform.
You will work closely with departments across the university, including Marketing, to support work-related objectives and ensure the smooth delivery of promotional activities and staff communications. Assist the EAL in organising staff events - both in-person and online - including activities for National Apprenticeship Week, held annually early February.
A key part of the role involves managing and regularly updating intranet and web pages with the latest apprenticeship news and promotional activities. It's essential that all information remains current and aligned with government policy, so a solid understanding of apprenticeship funding rules and guidelines is required. This includes monitoring and implementing updates, revising relevant documentation - such as HR paperwork, guides, and processes - and registering with regulatory bodies like the Department for Education (DFE). Attending relevant online events and conferences will also help staying informed about policy changes.
In addition to supporting staff apprenticeships, you will also be involved in the annual internal and external staff shadowing schemes - assisting with application management, confirming shadowing placements, and collecting the necessary paperwork and feedback.
Skills and experience required
We are looking for someone with a strong track record of delivering excellent customer service and proven administrative experience. Ideally, you will also bring experience working within apprenticeships and/or the higher education sector. These qualities are essential to supporting both staff and operational needs in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment.
A proactive approach, strong communication skills, and keen attention to detail are essential to accurately collect and manage information in line with government guidelines.
Qualifications required
You will be educated with a minimum of A-levels or a level 3 apprenticeship or equivalent proven professional work experience. An undergraduate degree or equivalent level 6 qualification is desirable. Please view the job description and person specification for a full list of the duties and essential criteria. Please attach a personal statement showing clearly how your skills and experience match the Person Specification. Internal applicants- please ensure you apply via your employee self-service portal.
We regret that we are unable to offer UKVI sponsorship for this post; applicants will either hold UK Right to Work or demonstrate access to UK Right to Work before an offer is made.
