To act as a focal point of communication between GPs, patients and other staff.
Duties include:
Receive, direct and facilitate patients and visitors appropriately face to face or via telephone
- Making appointments
- dealing with enquiries
- booking patients in for appointments
- prescription requests and enquiries
- giving patients their test results
- dealing with difficult or upset patients
- tasking the GPs for patient requests for sick notes etc
Information and Technology
- The use of IT is seen as an essential part of the post
- The majority of communication is via either Accurx or NHS mail
- To become skilled in the use of these systems to enable you to effectively undertake your role.
- To check your NHS mail account at least weekly
A range of general admin duties as required by the practice to include message taking, scanning, photocopying and registration of new patients
Responsibility for the evacuation of the waiting room in the event of a fire
6.Compliance and reporting of matters affecting health, safety and security

. Securing the Practice as required at the end of the working day .
