Located within Student Recruitment and Marketing service, the UK Student Recruitment and Admissions Department are responsible for the planning, implementation and delivery of a range of activities and events to ensure the University meets its student recruitment and widening access targets.
Getting the right applicants enrolled onto the right courses is key to all activities undertaken by Student Recruitment and Admissions department and crucial in a competitive marketplace.
As an Admissions Officer, you will act as a supervisor to a team of Admissions Advisers to monitor overall workload, allocate and reallocate work to ensure fair balance of workload and ensure all work is delivered to agreed timescales, carrying out performance development reviews and inducting and training staff in the team.
You will work collaboratively with other Admissions Officers to manage administrative functions in support of admissions processes across the wider admissions team, ensuring correct resource levels and skills are in place to deliver a professional service to applicants and internal stakeholders.
You will build and maintain strong working relationships across the service throughout the admissions cycle to understand recruitment, enquiry and marketing plans relating to admissions and disseminate this information to Admissions Advisers. You will also act as a key point of contact in other services, faculties or external bodies including participating in networking or working groups to convey and receive information.
Excellent customer service skills are essential to provide advice and support to staff in academic colleges, services and customers interpreting existing policies, regulations and guidance as necessary. You will also support the identification, development and implementation of improvements to existing and new initiatives to improve on service provision, reviewing processes from end to end and developing and implementing change plans, and ensure relevant staff are fully briefed to support changes to the administrative process. An understanding of the admissions cycle and good working knowledge of technical systems that support these is advantageous.
You will be responsible for providing tailor-made services to groups of applicants (such as those applying for courses with professional body requirements or interviews) and managing specialist admissions processes, e.g. bursary payments, Confirmation of Acceptances for Studies checks, criminal conviction (DBS) and Occupational Health checks, degree apprenticeships.
You will have the opportunity to represent the university at Open Days and UCAS Fairs, and you will act as a link and source of information for other professional services.

We are looking for a person with strong customer service skills and excellent attention to detail with an enthusiastic commitment to enhancing the applicant experience. You should also possess excellent and proactive organisation skills.
We make use of a number of IT systems such as Microsoft Office, SITS (admissions database) and a number of external databases, so being comfortable with IT systems and being able to pick up new technologies is essential.
