The City of Doncaster Council is a confident, ambitious organisation which puts improving the life of its residents at the centre of everything we do. You have a opportunity to be part of this in the role of Adoption Social Worker.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as an Adoption Social Worker in One Adoption South Yorkshire. One Adoption South Yorkshire provide the adoption service for all four Local Authorities and work on a regional basis.
This post will be based in our Doncaster Local Authority office but flexibility to travel to other regional offices may be needed.
Currently the successful applicant will work in the Recruitment & Assessment team.
However, to provide a flexible service to our children and families, changes in the service may require the need to work in another discipline within the wider team and service.
The successful candidate must have experience of working with children and families who require support and to take a lead role in the assessment of prospective adopters.
You will join a dynamic, creative, confident and forward thinking team whose aim is to recruit and assess excellent prospective adopters, find suitable families for children who have an adoption plan and provide a range of adoption support services to children and their families.
You will be able to work flexibly and undertake group work with children, young people and adopters. There will be an opportunity to share your knowledge and experience whilst providing some training and development opportunities for adopters, staff within the team, throughout the Trust and across One Adoption South Yorkshire.
Practitioners within the team receive good support, where excellent social work practice is encouraged and supported and continuing professional development is at the forefront for all in the team.
In return for your hard work and dedication, we can offer you the chance to be part of a great team dedicated to ensuring that all people in Doncaster thrive. You will also have access to a variety of attractive employee benefits including competitive leave entitlement, a generous local government pension scheme, a wide range of well-being support and development opportunities. You will also have access to a range of staff discount and benefits schemes. More information on the benefits available to you as a City of Doncaster Council employee can be found in the attached benefits book.
Please ensure you view the job summary and job profile as you will need to demonstrate in your application form how you meet the required criteria.
Shortlisting will take place week commencing 11th August 2025 and interviews are to be confirmed.
