A volunteer is required to provide 1-2-1 support for adult learners with additional learning needs in adult education classes, with the support of an adult education tutor. The volunteer would be required to support a learner in a Monday morning class at Tredegar Library and a learner in a basic IT class at Brynmawr Adult Education Centre on a Wednesday afternoon term time only.
Key responsibilities:
Provide 1-2-1 support with reading, communication and basic IT skills for learners with additional learning needs
To work with the ACL tutor to ensure that the learner can gain the skills needed to achieve an Agored Cymru qualification.
To communicate clearly and positively with the learner and to work in a way that will promote equality of opportunity for all learners.
To adapt simple resources to suit learners' needs.
To encourage learners to work independently where possible.
Maintain confidentiality and uphold safeguarding procedures.
Personal qualities needed:
Excellent communication skills.
Good levels of literacy, numeracy and IT.
Reliable and punctual.
Must be able to work with learners of all abilities in a fair and non-judgmental manner.
Must be able to work as part of a team.
Pre-employment checks will be carried out prior to starting volunteer placement.
