Job Description

About the role

Adult Education and Learning Engagement Officer

Bury Council's Adult Learning Service is seeking to recruit an Adult Education and Learning Engagement Officer. Promoting adult learning is at the heart of Bury's LET'S Do It! 2030 Strategy, which is an ambitious vision for delivering inclusive economic growth and reducing the levels of deprivation across the borough.

Joining the Learner Services team will give you the opportunity to develop, promote and support learning activities within communities, collaborating closely with the community and voluntary sector and other statutory organisations. The role will allow you to focus on engaging communities who may not be aware of adult education provision and/or present barriers that prevent them from accessing adult education provision.

We are looking for someone with a broad understanding of the full range of adult learning providers across Bury and experience of proactively engaging with communities and individuals described as being hard to reach and working with them to support access into learning and/or work.

The ideal candidate will be able to plan and focus engagement activity using analytical data and demographics to target hard to engage residents. They will work with partners from relevant services and agencies to ensure service delivery is effective and co-operative, value for money and does not duplicate or compete with other provision in the area. They will also engage in appropriate capacity building of voluntary groups within the community e.g. deliver basic confidence building training, team building activities, etc.

The ideal candidate will embody our LET'S Do It! values and will support putting learners at the centre of sharing in the success of our exciting plans to deliver excellent adult education for all the communities of our borough.

The post is for 37 hours per week based at the Adult Learning Centre in Bury but working flexibly to meet Service demands.
