As a Night Support Worker, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and comfort of service users throughout the night. Working with guidance from the Registered Manager and Senior Support Staff, you will provide person-centred care, promote independence, and maintain a safe, supportive environment in line with individual care plans and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
Care & Support
Provide respectful, person-centred support to service users in line with their care plans
Assist with personal care while promoting independence and choice
Support service users' health, wellbeing, hygiene, diet, and lifestyle
Accompany and support service users at medical appointments when required
Night-Time Duties
Carry out regular welfare checks throughout the night
Respond promptly to call alarms
Assist service users to the toilet as required
Change soiled bedding promptly and manage laundry appropriately
Pay particular attention to service users with epilepsy, illness, or specific health needs
Update night care plans and records in line with company procedures
Activities & Engagement
Support individual and group activities, both on and off site, as part of weekly programmes
Assist senior staff in resourcing appropriate activities tailored to assessed needs
Health, Safety & Risk
Follow all risk assessments, policies, and procedures
Identify and report new or potential risks to senior staff
Use PPE appropriately (e.g. gloves, aprons)
Follow infection control and cross-contamination procedures
Ensure the building is secure overnight and visitors are signed in and ID checked
Communication & Professional Practice
Maintain accurate, clear, and confidential records and reports
Share relevant information with the Registered Manager and senior staff
Maintain positive professional relationships with families, friends, GPs, and other professionals
Work collaboratively and support colleagues to promote a strong team culture
Personal Development
Engage in training and identify learning and development needs
Reflect on practice and contribute to service improvement
Additional Duties
Assist with maintaining cleanliness of the home when required
Support general household tasks where appropriate
Carry out any reasonable duties requested by the Registered Manager to support service users' wellbeing
