Advanced Pharmacist - Specialist Surgical Care

An opportunity has arisen to join our Surgical Pharmacy team, supporting our Specialist Surgical Care Collaborative, with the opportunity to specialise in Trauma and Orthopaedics. The post holder would act as a key pharmacy contact for the directorate, supporting a range of clinical and operational projects, whilst also acting as part of the senior pharmacist team supporting the wider Surgical Collaboratives.
We are looking for someone with extensive clinical pharmacy skills and experience; you will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with a strong team spirit and the ability to motivate others. You must demonstrate confidence as an advanced clinical pharmacist, and a role model to early career and trainee pharmacists.
This post is based at the Cumberland Infirmary site, although there is an expectation that the post holder will have cross-site responsibilities and work closely with colleagues across the wider Trust, in developing and delivering pharmacy services.
Main duties of the job
Work closely with Clinicians and Nursing colleagues to support and promote the safe and effective use of medicines within the relevant surgical directorates as well as ensuring the cost-effective use of resources.
Lead, deliver, and develop pharmacy services to relevant surgical directorates in accordance with national priorities and local objectives.
Work as a pharmacist prescriber developing the role for designated areas of clinical practice
Support the development of early career and trainee pharmacists.
Act as a senior member of the surgical pharmacy team assisting with management of day-to-day operational duties as required.
Act as a line manager for designated band 6 or 7 pharmacists.
Actively participate within regional and national network forums to develop and improve clinical practice and share learning.
The post includes weekend working, participation in the bank holiday rota and on-call.
