Job Purpose



The Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) will provide high-quality autonomous clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients presenting to Corby Urgent Care Centre with minor injuries, minor illness, and undifferentiated urgent care presentations.

The post-holder will work as an expert autonomous practitioner within a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring timely, safe, evidence-based care for a diverse population. Minor Injuries competence is essential, including assessment, treatment, and management of musculoskeletal injuries, wounds, soft tissue trauma, and basic fractures.

Clinical Responsibilities



Provide autonomous assessment, diagnosis, treatment, referral, and discharge of patients presenting with minor injuries and minor illness. Manage undifferentiated urgent care presentations across all ages. Safely administer and prescribe medicines (if an independent prescriber). Escalate or refer patients appropriately to acute services, primary care, or community services. Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with local and national standards. Work collaboratively with doctors, ENPs, ANPs, ACPs, nurses, paramedics, and other MDT members.

Leadership & Service Development



Support daily operational flow within the urgent care centre. Act as shift lead when required, ensuring safe staffing and clinical oversight. Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical pathways. Participate in audits, quality improvement projects, and risk management processes. Promote patient safety, safeguarding, infection control, and clinical governance.

Essential Criteria



Registered Nurse, Paramedic, or Allied Health Professional. MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice (or near completion). Independent Prescriber (V300) or working towards. Proven experience working autonomously in urgent, emergency, or primary care. Highly developed clinical reasoning and diagnostic skills. Experience with undifferentiated patients across the lifespan. Excellent communication, decision-making, and time-management skills.

Desirable Criteria



Previous experience working in an Urgent Treatment Centre, Minor Injuries Unit, ED or Walk-In Centre. Experience as a shift leader or clinical supervisor. Teaching or mentorship qualification.

Uphold NMC/HCPC standards and maintain professional registration. Participate in annual appraisal and competency review. Maintain a portfolio demonstrating continued professional development. Adhere to local and national policies, pathways, and governance structures.

Pay: 53,000.00-55,000.00 per year
