JOB SUMMARY This is an exciting opportunity for an Advanced CBT Therapist to support the clinical delivery of treatment across the service, whilst maintaining a strong clinical focus and CBT case load. This role is a blended role of home and onsite working. We are seeking an Advanced CBT Therapist to support the development of a team of therapists covering the area and working in sub-groups around the Primary Care Networks. This will involve networking to create new relationships and require flexibility to align with emerging delivery models within general practice and other local services.
The Advanced CBT Therapist will have the ability to inspire and support a team to ensure they deliver high quality psychological interventions, and will work with others to improve organisational performance. The person needs to be highly motivated to deliver change; build relationships and support the Service Manager, Clinical Lead, Team Leads and Locality Managers to create a team that will provide outstanding services for the local population. The post holder requires developed clinical expertise with demonstrable experience of working as an appropriately qualified therapist. They will carry a case load alongside providing Clinical supervision and Duty support.
The main aims of the role are to support the Clinical Lead, Team Leads and Locality Managers to ensure the team delivers a dynamic, effective and efficient service: Drawing on developed specialist skills in assessment and psychological therapies, the post holder will hold a clinical caseload including more complex cases as appropriate at step 3. Duty Manager shifts including risk management and therapist support Provision of high-quality supervision and support the design and implementation of workforce development programmes for all staff working in the DHC NHS Talking Therapies service. Support the development of clinical aspects of service development- e.g. Pathway meetings, Primary Care Networks, Long Term Condition Pathways and groups and courses.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST Clinical: 1. To provide specialist psychological assessments of clients referred to the team based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources. The post holder will hold a clinical case load, including more complex cases, based upon an advanced theoretical and practical expertise.
2. This clinical work involves working with a range of cases including those that may be more complex. There is frequently a need to impart complex information in sensitive ways, and to challenge opinions and behaviours that are deeply entrenched and long standing. This requires considerable emotional effort and sensitivity, and a capacity to manage complex strands of information, whilst exercising a high level of judgement with regard to the phrasing, content and timing of interventions.
Treatment should be based on evidenced based practice, following for example, Nice Guidelines and the NHS Talking Therapies Manual. 3. To undertake risk assessment and risk management for relevant individual clients and to provide both general and specialist advice to NHS Talking Therapies clinicians on the psychological aspects of risk assessment and management with the support of the Team Lead and Clinical Lead where required. 4.
To make sound evidence-based decisions regarding risk and support therapists to manage clients, requiring urgent supervision. 5. To lead on the development of new and innovative ways of working with support/ guidance from the Clinical Lead, Team Leads and Service Manager 6. To provide expertise and advice to facilitate the effective and appropriate provision of psychological care by all members of the team within the context and framework of the NHS Talking Therapies AQP contract and NHS Talking Therapies Manual 7.
Consultation with professional colleagues regarding the appropriate treatment for clients is central to the role. Policy and service development The post holder will: Support the Locality Manager and Team Leads to develop the NHS Talking Therapies service, including new models of working such as integrated LTC services, Pathway groups, and Primary Care Networks. Support the development and implementation of policies and operating procedures for mental health across the organisation. These will be clinical aspects including clinical governance and clinical audit.
Support the development of appropriate consultation with service users regarding the working of the service. 4. Facilitate training, monitoring and supervision of clinical skills including training and CPD of staff as appropriate 5. Liaise with University training providers to ensure interface issues are addressed in a timely and decisive manner.
6. Contribute to the development of services for the community less likely to access services, ensuring accessibility and optimising engagement. For example, men, UREG, Perinatal, military veterans etc. 7.
Work collaboratively with colleagues in the 3rd sector to facilitate access to a choice of services to promoting recovery, resilience and mental well-being 8. Work with Employment advisors embedded with the team. 9. Work closely with the Team Leads to ensure service delivery targets are achieved, workforce development targets are achieved, clinical outcomes are valid, and evidence backed.
