Respond to medical problems presented by patients including history taking, examination, investigation, diagnosis, treatment and referral where appropriate.



Provision of appropriate preventative health care and advice within the context of primary health care. Prescribe and review medication for therapeutic effectiveness, appropriate to patient needs and in accordance with evidence-based practice and national and practice protocols, and within scope of practice. Maintain the patients clinical record to a high standard and take all reasonable steps to safeguard the confidentiality of the medical notes of your patients. Contribute to evaluation /audit and clinical standard setting.



To make full contribution towards the Health Care Teams aims and objectives ensuring effective teamwork by attending meetings relating to duties. Subject to your other duties, you are required to seek to work in a co-operative way with staff at all times. Undertake clinically related administration needed for the delivery of medical services. To teach, develop and support all health care professionals.



Provide cover, where necessary, for absent colleagues during periods of annual leave or sickness. In exceptional circumstances, provide additional services on an emergency basis as are within the post holders clinical competence and which would not otherwise jeopardise the delivery of medical services to patients. Undertake any other duties that are commensurate with the post and within the post holders clinical competence.
