Specialist Podiatrist specialising in therapeutic footwear or Orthotist .



An exciting opportunity has arisen for either a podiatrist specialising in therapeutic footwear or a motivated orthotist with experience in the diabetic foot to join our dynamic NHS Diabetic and High Risk Foot Service. To work as part of the multi-disciplinary team to provide a high quality clinical therapeutic footwear service.



This post is a countywide post based in Northamptonshire . Assess, diagnose and manage the on-going care of an agreed caseload of patients within the specialist area. In particular, care will be provided to patients with:



Late/end stage complications arising from diabetic foot disease and inflammatory arthropathies resulting in complex deformity requiring therapeutic footwear provision. Circulatory and neurological deficits and reduced tissue viability e.g. pressure ulcers, requiring specialist off loading and footwear Complex medical conditions, e.g. Peripheral vascular disease which potentially has a major impact on foot pathology.

The post holder will be expected to have an identified caseload of patients, the majority of which will be for patients with diabetes and have associated complications and to undertake all associated communication with other healthcare professionals and the diabetes multi-disciplinary team.Prescribe therapeutic stock and modified stock footwear and advise and be involved in made to measure footwear provision.

To participate in the education, training and supervision of other staff in association with therapeutic footwear.
