Job Introduction
We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our forward thinking, rights based Adults with Disabilities Preparation for Adulthood and Front Door service. We have a team of skilled, dedicated, friendly and supportive staff who are committed to upholding people's human rights through their social work practice. However, as our service evolves, we are looking for a permanent (due to internal promotion) and a new temporary Advanced Practitioner Social Worker colleague to join us and continue to develop and provide a high quality service for the people we support. The team will be based in a locality of Bradford, providing long term support to around 600 young people (from age 16) and adults with physical disabilities, learning disabilities and neurodiverse conditions with eligible needs under the Care Act 2014. The team will consist of a Team Manager, an Advanced Practitioner and up to 8 social workers and/or care coordinators.
The permanent role will build on your career as an exceptional, experienced social worker, providing a first step into a more supervisory role. You will support the Team Manager, as their deputy. You will have a strong commitment to human rights at the heart of social work practice and will know and understand the importance of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. You will not want to make any decision without the person you are there to support being in control and being enabled to fully participate. Your creativity, positive attitude and values will make you stand out.
The two year temporary role will give you all the experience above and also the exciting opportunity to work in a focused way with colleagues in the Bradford Children and Families Trust to strengthen our approach to upholding the rights of care experienced young people as they prepared to live independent lives. This role will require that you have a strong understanding of both the Care Act and the Mental Capacity Act. You will also have a good understanding of the Care Leaver Regulations. You will have a special interest in the experience of young people with the most complex presenting mental health needs associated.
