UHNM is a Cancer Centre including Level 3 haematology (providing complex inpatient chemotherapy regimens and autograft transplants) and also a Myeloma UK Centre of Excellence.

The pharmacy directorate has modern, purpose-built pharmacy departments on both the County and Royal Stoke hospital sites and has close links with Keele University School of Pharmacy. The Pharmacy team is enthusiastic, forward thinking and vibrant. We have a proven track record in re-engineering our services to improve the delivery of high quality, patient focused pharmaceutical care and optimisation of medicines use.

The Cancer Centre at the Royal Stoke site consists of a 40 bedded in-patient ward and a dedicated four bedded Emergency Admissions Bay for clinical assessment of toxicities. There is a 27 chaired out-patient area and four linear accelerators. The County Cancer Unit has a nurse led 16 chaired, four bedded out-patient day unit. The clinical trials team based on the Cancer Centre manage a broad portfolio of both commercial and non-commercial trials. Electronic prescribing is well established across both Paediatric and Adult Cancer Services

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated, dynamic, innovative and enthusiastic pharmacist to join an established team of Specialist Clinical Pharmacists to support cancer patients.

As Advanced Specialist Pharmacist for Haematology you will work with the Lead Haematology Pharmacist in the development of this service to both in and out-patients. As part of the wider Pharmacy Cancer Team primarily based at the satellite pharmacy on the Cancer Centre at the Royal Stoke site you will provide clinical services to the out-patient clinics. You will work alongside a team of Oncology, Haematology and Paediatric Cancer Senior Pharmacists under the management of the Lead Pharmacist Haematology. There will also be opportunities to work at the County site in Stafford.

Based across two sites, Royal Stoke in Stoke-on-Trent and County Hospital in Stafford, we are proud to serve around three million people and we're highly regarded for our facilities, teaching and research. We are the specialist centre for major trauma for the North Midlands and North Wales.

All of our employees make a valuable contribution regardless of role here at UHNM and we are proud of our wide range of development packages aimed at ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to fulfil their true potential.

At University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust we know that investing in, supporting and developing our staff has a direct impact on the quality of care that we deliver. Our employees are as important as our patients and the population that we serve.

You will be supported by the wider team and actively encouraged to undertake further training and studies. You will also be expected to forge links with specialist centres and train other members of staff as you will already have cancer experience

Independent prescribing is actively encouraged with two pharmacists currently having allocated prescribing clinics across both Oncology and Haematology. All specialist pharmacists are encouraged to develop their clinical skills to undertake further training to become non-medical prescribers.

This is an exciting time to join our specialist Cancer Services team to further improve quality and patient experience.
