to join our amazing Short-Breaks Respite team at

Avalon Group

working in our

Short Breaks Service based in Clarence Gardens, Wakefield.



Pay

: Day shifts are paid at 13.00 an hour with weekends/evenings/nights paid at a higher hourly rate. We do also pay for non-customer contact time. We also pay double pay on bank holidays.

Contract

: This is a permanent, full-time contract (37 hours per week)

To make it fair for all staff we do require a degree of flexibility with shift patterns to meet the requirements of the people we care for. Staff are required to work 2 weekends per month.

Shifts vary based on the needs of the service and can be variable. However rotas are sent out 2 months in advance, and a typical full time worker will always have 2 days off together.

Hours

: Working hours for this role are 37 hours per week. Weekly hours can vary but are tracked monthly. E.g. someone working full time may not work exactly 37 hours per week but will work 148 hours over the month.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Short Breaks service team in Wakefield (West Yorkshire). As a service that operates 7 days a week, 365 days a year, our Clarence Gardens service in Wakefield (West Yorkshire) offers essential respite care for up to four adults with autism, learning disabilities, and/or physical disabilities. You will play an active role in assisting the Service Managers and Locality Manager with specific management duties, as well as providing hands-on strength-based support to the Avalon guests.

Key responsibilities:



Providing appropriate and thorough induction to the service for new support staff. Participating in the locality's on-call service on a rota basis. Supporting the team in a positive and respectful manner, mentoring and coaching staff where required, and identifying areas where further training may be needed. Completing medication competencies for support workers. Completing all pre-calls. Attending reviews for the guests accessing the service. Completion of DOL's paperwork when required. Ensuring all support plans and risk assessments are updated as required. Have a flexible approach to work and complete any ad hoc tasks when requested/instructed by Service Manager's

Essential criteria:



Experience of working in the support sector and knowledge of care certificates. Level 3 Health & Social Care qualification, or willing to work towards. Excellent communication skills, with an ability to be clear, respectful and professional. To be able to work flexibly and participate in the out of hours on call service. Proactive person who can use your own decision-making skills. A full valid UK Driving License is preferred.
