Adviser or Trainee Adviser. 1 role.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team and make a real difference to the community. You will have a passion for working with people, helping them through challenging situations with a willingness to train and learn on the job. The Advice trainee will learn about all aspects of our service and develop skills to deliver high quality advice. The successful applicant will have a positive attitude and desire to learn, excellent IT skills, and strong communication skills.
Experience
Adviser must have at least 1 years experience working as an Adviser in Community Advice or similar role.
Full training will be provided for Trainee who will ideally have an understanding or some knowledge of the benefits system.

Advice giving
Interview clients over the phone or face to face using sensitive listening and questioning skills in order to identify query and present solutions
Use information sources to find, interpret and communicate the relevant information.
Act for the client where necessary by calculating, negotiating, drafting or writing letters and telephoning.
Negotiate with third parties such as statutory and non-statutory bodies as appropriate.
Refer internally or to other specialist agencies as appropriate.
Ensure that all work conforms to the Office Manual and quality standard requirements
Maintain detailed case records for the purpose of continuity of casework, information retrieval, statistical monitoring and report preparation.
Assist with social policy work by providing information about clients' specific circumstances and ensuring recording of same
Provide talks, attend information events
Help with Social Media
Professional development
Keep up to date with legislation, policies and procedures and undertake appropriate training including a recognised accredited adviser training programme within the probation period
Read relevant publications.
Attend relevant internal and external meetings as agreed with the line manager.
Prepare for and attend supervision sessions/team meetings/staff meetings as appropriate.
Administration
Excellent IT skills for statistical recording, record keeping, calendar and document production.
Ensure that all work conforms to systems and procedures.
Other duties and responsibilities
Carry out any other tasks that may be within the scope of the post to ensure the effective delivery and development of the service such as talks and presentations to other groups
Demonstrate commitment to the aims and policies of the Community Advice service.
Help with social media and promotion
Other
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends dependent upon business requirements
Ability to drive and use of car.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
Location:
Community Advice Newry, Mourne and Down. Ballybot House Newry
Salary:
Trainee Adviser starting at 23,000 (PRO RATA) and increasing when trained.
Experienced Adviser Salary to be discussed at interview.
Hours of work:
3-5 days per week (21-35 hours)
Leave Entitlement:
25 days plus 11 statutory days.( pro rata)
Pension Entitlement:
We are currently enrolled in a Pension Scheme.
Private health insurance after one year, with paid levels increasing after 5 and 10 years' service.
Death in Service Insurance.
Wellness half day for your birthday.
Other conditions of service shall be those applying to employees of Community Advice Newry, Mourne and Down.
