We are looking for a Wraparound Club Assistant to provide child care for pupils attending the Harris Primary Academy Purley Way After School Club, under the guidance of the Breakfast and After School Club Leader and Principal. You will be working closely with the children providing encouragement, friendship and supervision. To assist the Leader in offering the children a wide range of play activities and ensuring that the club offers the children a relaxed, informed and caring environment.
The working hours for this role will be Monday to Friday 3:15pm to 6:15pm, and is offered on a fixed-term basis from September 2025 to August 2026.
About Us
Harris Primary Academy Purley Way has been open since 2016 and is Ofsted rated 'Outstanding' in all areas. At full capacity there will be 21 classes from Reception to Year 6. We opened with a Reception cohort and are growing by a year group at a time with currently over 560 pupils on roll from Reception to Year 6.

Main Areas of Responsibility
Your responsibilities will include:
To assist in the preparation of breakfast, snacks, cleaning away and washing up when required.
To be responsible for a group of children as designated by the Leader.
To assist in ensuring that the children are safe at all times and drawing attention to the Play Leader of any likely causes of danger.
To attend occasional staff meetings.
To attend training sessions occasionally, if required, at a mutually agreed time and date.
To undertake any other task as required by management within the purpose of the job.
To accompany the children on outings, accepting responsibility for the whereabouts and safety of a designated small group of children.
To inform the Leader immediately of any incident which could be detrimental to the well-being of any child within the Club's care.
To offer ideas and participate in new and improved play activities. This will involve offering a weekly activity, e.g. arts and crafts, physical, cooking etc.
Qualifications & Experience
The successful candidate will have:
NVQ Level 2 in Early Years / Play-work / Teaching Assistant or equivalent
First Aid Certificate (or willingness to acquire)
Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to acquire)
Experience of working with children of relevant age
Experience of working with children who may have additional needs
The ability to encourage and inspire young people
Good organisational skills
The ability to use own initiative
The ability to work in a flexible way
