We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Play Worker to join our team, responsible for providing a safe and engaging environment for children. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children, demonstrating strong leadership skills and the ability to communicate effectively. This role is essential in supporting children's development through play and structured activities, ensuring their well-being and enjoyment.
Responsibilities
Ensure children are safely collected from school and handed over to parents/guardians.
Support the preparation and serving of nutritious snacks, maintaining hygiene and safety standards.
Administer first aid when needed and promote a safe environment through regular risk assessments.
Set up play and learning spaces, including moving furniture and equipment.
Supervise and engage with children in various play activities, promoting creativity and social interaction.
Plan and implement age-appropriate games and activities that cater to the diverse needs of children.
Foster a positive environment that encourages children to express themselves and develop their skills.
Communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues to ensure a cohesive approach to childcare.
Manage behaviour in a constructive manner, promoting respect and understanding among peers.
Maintain a safe and clean environment, adhering to health and safety regulations at all times.
Collaborate with other staff members to support the overall objectives of the nursery or play setting. Being responsible for day to day administration and record keeping at the club to meet required Ofsted standards
Being responsible for the safe-keeping of the club property and equipment
Being the lead practitioner responsible for safeguarding all children attending the club
Support the ongoing training and development of team members.
Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), supporting staff, leading on safeguarding matters, and liaising with external agencies.
Requirements
Enhanced DBS
Ability to communicate at all levels, particularly with children
Proven experience working with children in a childcare or educational setting is essential.
A background in Early Childhood Education or relevant qualifications would be advantageous.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire children during play activities.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, particularly in English.
Ability to drive or travel as required for off-site activities or training sessions would be beneficial.
A genuine passion for nurturing children's development through play and structured learning experiences.

Pay: 12.50-15.00 per hour
