The Afternoon Chef will be required to support the final preparations for our lunchtime service and prepare the evening meal. Additionally, they will be responsible for baking and preparation for the following day. They will be responsible for the cleanliness of the kitchen and dining facility and expected to have exceptional food hygiene standards.
Main duties and responsibilities:
? Supporting the Catering Manager and deputise when required.
? Order stock from suppliers as required, ensuring value for money.
? Manage the kitchen staff as required by the Catering Manager.
? Preparing food for the lunch sitting and evening meal.
? Help serve lunch and the boarder's supper.
? Baking cakes for school events.
? Always maintain a clean working environment, following Food Hygiene Regulations, in the Undercroft, Servery, Kitchen and Washing Up Area.
? Wash up utensils used in the preparation of food and crockery and cutlery used in the Undercroft.
? Assist with the safe and clean storage of all kitchen/dining equipment.
? Maintain high levels of personal presentation which in turn reflect on the presentation of food.
? Always maintain a professional code of conduct in relation to pupils and staff.
? Assist with the smooth running of the Dining Hall, helping to maintain high standards of manners and courtesy amongst pupils at all times.
? Proactive in the management of Health and Safety in the kitchen and associated areas

Person Specification:
Qualifications:
Essential - basic culinary skills
Desirable - catering qualifications
Experience:
Essential - experience of working with the public, ideally including children
Desirable - Experience of working in an independent PrePrep/Prep School. Experience of working in a catering environment
Skills:
Essential - Flexibility, adaptability, initiative, ability to work with other colleagues, good interpersonal skills
Desirable - First aid skills
Personal Competencies and Qualities:
Essential - Ability to work in a high pace environment, independently and apply initiative and forethought to anticipate issues and manage workloads. Strong team player
Desirable - Leadership experience with small teams
