Afterschool Club Coordinator (Maternity Cover)
to oversee our playworkers and ensure a high-quality experience for both children and staff.
This is a
maternity cover position

, with the opportunity for a thorough handover and induction period prior to the start of the cover.

Essential and Desirable Skills & Qualifications
A sound working knowledge of safeguarding and child protection.
Relevant childcare qualifications (or a willingness to obtain them).
Experience working with children aged 4-11 years, preferably in a play or afterschool setting.
Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Knowledge of health and safety legislation and risk assessments.
A Paediatric First Aid certification and safeguarding training (DSL or otherwise).
Ability to manage records, including timesheets and registers, accurately.
Understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework is essential.
Care for children aged 4 to 11 years in our Brighton Afterschool Club, based at St Paul's Primary School.
Supervise all playworkers (employed, volunteers, agency, or casual staff) at Starfish Kids Club.
Draw up work plans, rotas, and monitor hours.
Conduct termly staff appraisals/supervisions with the setting's Playworkers.
Complete monthly timesheets of staff attendance and keep Management informed of changes.
Compile agenda items for team meetings and attend regular staff meetings.
Ensure the Club operates within work plans, including regular reviews and reporting to Management.
Address issues raised by staff, parents/carers, children, or the Committee.
Take overall responsibility for the children's well-being, health, and safety.
Inform staff, parents/carers, and children of all conditions and changes affecting participation.
Identify staff training needs and ensure information is shared with staff and the Committee.
Implement the Club's policies and procedures.
Carry out risk assessments (fire, health, and safety) in line with legislation.
Maintain a healthy, safe, and enjoyable environment for all.
Ensure equipment and materials are maintained and reflect equality considerations.
Report and manage maintenance issues relating to the premises.
Ensure the building is secure and properly closed after each session.
Maintain the accident book and incident forms.
Attend Committee meetings as required.
Oversee EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) management.
Manage registers and record keeping, liaising with Management weekly.
Handle petty cash responsibly for authorised expenditures.
