The AI Context Engineer is responsible for delivering and optimizing AI ecosystems that deliver exceptional English Language Teaching experiences. This role architects the "invisible curriculum" that guides AI behaviour, ensuring our technology embodies decades of educational expertise while adapting to diverse learning contexts globally. The position focuses on strategic design and optimization of AI system contexts to revolutionize English Language Teaching through intelligent, culturally sensitive, and pedagogically-sound AI-powered products.
Key responsibilities in this role will include:
Design comprehensive context systems embedding proven ELT methodologies, learning theories, and pedagogical best practices; Engineer context structures integrating with existing curricula and learning pathways; Develop dynamic frameworks adapting to diverse cultural and educational contexts
Build and optimize RAG systems for intelligent content surfacing; Design multi-modal context systems integrating text, audio, visual elements; Implement real-time context adaptation based on learner progress
Curate and structure educational content repositories; Engineer assessment contexts for meaningful feedback; Create personalized learning support systems for diverse learner profiles
Develop context quality metrics and measurement frameworks; Establish continuous improvement processes; Ensure ethical AI implementation promoting inclusive learning experiences
We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office.
ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have/be:
AI/ML fundamentals including LLMs, NLP, and system architecture
Programming proficiency in Python with AI/ML frameworks
RAG systems and vector database experience
Previous experience in educational technology, AI/ML applications, or digital learning product development (desirable)
Proven experience in database design, API development, and data pipeline management
Cross-cultural competency in diverse educational contexts
Deep ELT methodology knowledge and curriculum development expertise (desirable)
