Infinitopes is a clinical-stage pioneer in precision medicines, born from a Cancer Research UK (CRUK)-led spinout from Oxford University. We are on a mission to significantly enhance patient survival by empowering the immune system to fight cancer metastases. Through proprietary antigen discovery technologies, innovative high-efficiency vectors, and intelligent clinical trial design, we develop solutions that genuinely matter to patients and their families. With over $30 million raised and our first clinical trial underway, we are building a world-class team to scale our impact globally.
The Role
We are seeking an AI Lead who shares our passion for using cutting-edge technology to solve real human biology problems. You will architect and lead our antigen discovery and vaccine design platform, translating complex immunological and proteomics data into insights that directly impact patient outcomes.
Beyond the technical work, you will mentor the next generation of scientists, and foster collaboration across disciplines. You will have the intellectual freedom to innovate while working alongside experimental biologists who bring complementary expertise.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement AI/ML architectures that advance our mission of improving patient survival through personalised cancer vaccines
Build predictive models by synthesising mass spectrometry, genomics, and immunology data
Establish cloud compute strategies and MLOps infrastructure that balance technical excellence with cost-effectiveness and sustainability
Lead our AI/ML strategy, cultivating partnerships that expand our collective expertise
Mentor and develop team members, sharing knowledge and fostering a culture of continuous learning
Guide collaborative problem-solving, welcoming diverse perspectives and constructive challenge
Skills and Experience
Essential:
PhD in Computer Science, Computational Biology, or related field (or equivalent experience demonstrating continuous learning and excellence)
3+ years applying ML/AI to biological problems, with evidence of real-world impact
Advanced proficiency in AI and ML frameworks (scikit-learn, XGBoost, PyTorch/TensorFlow)
Strong software engineering skills (Python, cloud infrastructure AWS/GCP, scalable pipelines)
Working knowledge of immunology and proteomics with the curiosity to deepen this understanding
Exceptional communication skills and genuine enthusiasm for working across disciplines
Demonstrated ability to teach, mentor, or share knowledge with others
Desirable:
Experience with computational immunology tools (MHC processing/binding predictors, immunogenicity modelling)
Familiarity with mass spectrometry and RNA-seq data analysis
Background in biotechnology, especially in collaborative or founding team environments
Track record of mentoring junior scientists and contributing to their development
Publications in computational biology or machine learning that demonstrate rigorous, evidence-based thinking
What We Offer
We are committed to creating an environment where you can thrive both professionally and personally:
Competitive salary and attractive equity scheme - we succeed together
Generous pension scheme and Health Cash Plan supporting your long-term wellbeing
Cycle to work scheme promoting sustainable commuting
UK visa sponsorship for exceptional candidates
Culture of continuous learning - conference attendance, training opportunities, and knowledge-sharing sessions
Collaborative, supportive environment where differing views welcomed as a path to better solutions
Flexible working arrangements that recognise the importance of work-life balance
Direct impact on patient outcomes - your work will help real people fighting cancer
