Job Description

We are seeking an Aircraft Technician to join our team at RAF Cranwell/Barkston Heath who will work under the supervision of the Licensed Aircraft Engineer within the Base and Line maintenance environments. You will carry out maintenance tasks in accordance with approved data using the appropriate hand tools.

This is a full-time permanent contract position based on 40 hours a week, with the ability to work a varying shift patterns where required (e,g 06:00-17:30, 06:00-14:00, 14:00-22:00 and 08:00-16:30).

Roles and Responsibilities:



Assist and support scheduled maintenance and defect investigation/rectification in accordance with the Maintenance Programme, Maintenance Publications and Company Procedures as directed by the Licensed Aircraft Engineer. Carry out pre/post flight inspections. Correct control of certification documentation. Working in accordance with approved data and company policies. Support Affinity operations, as required, such as but limited to aircraft movements.
The above is not an exhaustive list, and you may be expected to perform additional duties that fall within your skill and competence as directed by your line manager.

Essential Experiences:



Understanding of EASA Part-145 regulations/requirements Previous use of hand tools and test equipment Experience of working closely with multi-site teams, building relationships to deliver outstanding performance in a highly regulated environment.

Desirable Experiences:



Worked within a UK CAA Part 145 organisation. Strong understanding of aircraft structures, systems, and powerplants. Ability to accurately complete maintenance records Repairs of composite structure and/or sheet metal work. Worked with aviation maintenance management software e.g., AMOS, RAL, Envision etc. Proficiency in use of common software packages including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, Power BI, Microsoft Project.

Essential Qualifications:



GCSE Grade C/4 or above in Maths, English and a Science based subject (or equivalent) Ability to acquire UK security clearance. Full UK driving licence.

Desirable Qualifications:



Recognised Aircraft Maintenance Apprenticeship, City & Guilds Part 2, or NVQ?Level 2 or Equivalent. UK CAA Part 66 Cat A License. Initial Human Factors. Current SMS training. Current EWIS training. Current Fuel Tank Safety Training.

Essential Competencies:



Understanding of working practices within a UK CAA Part 145 environment. Proficiency in handling tools, diagnosing mechanical issues, and performing repairs or maintenance tasks on aircraft. Understanding of HSE regulations in the workplace. Ability to communicate effectively. Interpret Engineering manuals/drawings. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Ability to work both indoors and outdoors, as well as in all types of weather conditions. Ability to work on mechanical and electrical/avionic systems. Fluent, both written and verbal, in English.
