We are seeking a proactive and safety-focused Airfield Safety Officer (ASO) to join our dedicated team at Birmingham Airport. In this critical role, you will provide frontline operational oversight of all airfield activities, ensuring compliance with the Aerodrome Licence and safeguarding the operational environment. This position also involves managing wildlife hazards, supporting emergency response, and maintaining a 24/7 presence on the airfield to uphold the highest safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct inspections to ensure the airfield remains safe, compliant, and operational at all times.
Deliver effective wildlife hazard management in line with the Wildlife and Habitat Management Plan.
Support emergency response activities under the BAL Emergency and Snow Plans.
Identify, report, and mitigate operational safety risks, ensuring full compliance with company procedures.
Undertake safety audits, inspections, and contribute to safety promotion activities.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety and operational performance.
Experience Required:
Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, operational environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with experience of stakeholder engagement.
Flexibility to work a 24/7 shift pattern, including nights, on a 4 on 4 off rota.
Ability to obtain and hold UK Firearms and Shotgun Licences.
Capability to secure BAL Airside Driving Permits ('A', 'M' & 'R'), BAL Class 2 Driving Permit, and Marshalling Permit.
Experience in safety oversight, compliance, or continuous improvement within a complex environment.
