We are seeking an ALS & SENCo Specialist/Administrator Support to join the team. You will be home based, working 28 hours per week.

Job Purpose
The ideal candidate will bring significant experience supporting apprentices with ALS/SEND. With strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and a confident, positive approach to enabling every apprentice to thrive. They will have proven skills in improvement planning, progress monitoring, and data analysis, and be able to clearly communicate SEND insights to both educational and non-educational staff.
The role will expect you to support the development of additional learning support for apprentices on programmes in the following sectors (Hospitality, Outdoor Education, Early Years, Leadership and Management, Business Administration, Customer Service and Agriculture) from Level 2 to Level 5. The support to the apprentices will be through a range of mediums including staff training, 1:1 support if needed (online), and developing strategies to support through support plans.
You will join a forward-thinking team delivering outstanding apprenticeships meeting the needs of the apprentices, employers, and stakeholders. Although a home-based role, working independently and managing your hours to meet the needs of all parties including and operational needs of STS the role does require you to travel as required.
Key role responsibilities and accountabilities
1. Supporting teams with Targeted Support for Learners with Additional Learning Needs
Work proactively with trainers/apprentices who have Additional Learning Support (ALS) requirements, ensuring timely and tailored interventions that enable them to make sustained progress throughout their apprenticeship.
2. EHCP Compliance and Delivery
Ensure all apprentices with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) receive the correct level of support in accordance with their plan, collaborating with relevant external agencies/families where necessary.
3. Plan and Deliver ALS Training
Design, deliver, and manage training and resources specifically related to ALS, equipping trainers with the knowledge and tools needed to effectively support learners with additional needs.
4. Collaborate on Training Programmes
Support, deliver, and manage the training requirements for staff to enable them to support their apprentices during the programme. Working collaboratively with teaching staff and external agencies to support individual needs.
5. Resource Development and Management
Create and maintain high-quality learning resources and toolkits tailored to support apprentices with a range of additional learning needs.
6. Monitor and Report on Learner Progress
Track and evaluate learner progress, producing regular reports for internal and external stakeholders. Ensure ALS interventions are impactful, and evidence based.
7. Administrator Support
Supporting the Curriculum and Quality manager and Head of Operations with admin support to include supporting with external visits such as EQA visits, keying data for registers/timetables, note taking at key meetings.
8. Ensure Compliance and Audit Readiness
Work closely with the Curriculum and Quality Manager, and the Compliance & Funding teams, to ensure that all ALS-related activities are accurately recorded and auditable. Actively contribute to the quality improvement processes at Skern Training and Skills by reviewing and enhancing ALS delivery across programmes.
9. Lead Monthly ALS Reviews
Be accountable for the monthly review and documentation of ALS interventions. Collaborate with trainers and sector leads to ensure high-quality, consistent, and impactful support is being delivered and recorded.
10. Support the Onboarding Process
Assist in the initial assessment and onboarding of apprentices, ensuring ALS needs are identified early and appropriate support is planned and in place from day one.
11. Promote ALS Integration Across Programmes
Champion the embedding of ALS practices across all apprenticeship programmes, supporting trainers and teams to maintain inclusive learning environments and uphold best practice standards.
