We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated tutor with experience in teaching/supporting Maths and Science at GCSE level to work within an alternative education setting. You will play a crucial role in supporting vulnerable students aged 11 to 16 who have faced significant gaps in their education. Your primary responsibility will be to provide supportive tutoring in Maths and Science, helping students build confidence and foundational skills. Additionally, you will support other teachers in small group sessions focused on Science, Maths, and essential life skills.

This role is ideal for a teacher/teaching support who is motivated to make a meaningful impact on students who require a tailored approach to learning. We welcome qualified teachers, but experience and a genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable students are our highest priorities.

Key Responsibilities:



Provide individualized tuition in Science and Maths to students aged 11-16. Support other teachers in small group settings (max4) to deliver lessons in Science, Maths, and life skills (max 8 - shared with another teacher). Adapt teaching methods to meet each student's unique learning needs, focusing on closing gaps in education. Build positive, supportive relationships with students to foster engagement and growth. Maintain accurate records of student progress and collaborate with other staff members to ensure consistency in teaching approaches.

Requirements:



Proven experience teaching or tutoring Science/Maths, especially with vulnerable or underserved students. Teaching qualifications preferred, but significant experience will also be considered. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team. Empathy, patience, and a commitment to supporting students with diverse educational needs. Must be able to complete all required background checks. Calm, friendly, happy and relaxed.

Working Hours:

Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:30 am to 2:30 pm

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: 15.00-22.00 per hour

Education:

Diploma of Higher Education (preferred)
Experience:

Teaching: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:

DBS (preferred)
