Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Laser Operator to join our small family manufacturing team. The candidate will be responsible for operating and Amada fibre laser cutting equipment to produce precision components, primarily working with sheet metal. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in fabrication and mechanical processes to contribute to high-quality production. The Laser Operator will play a vital part in ensuring efficient workflow, maintaining safety standards, and delivering superior products.

Duties

Set up and operate laser cutting machines according to specifications and technical drawings Prepare materials, primarily sheet metal, for laser processing, ensuring correct placement and alignment Monitor machine operation throughout the production process, adjusting settings as necessary for optimal performance Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on laser equipment to minimise downtime Use hand tools and tooling to assist with material handling, assembly, or finishing tasks Conduct quality checks on finished components to verify accuracy against design specifications Maintain a clean and organised work environment in compliance with health and safety regulations Assist with grinding, welding, or fabrication tasks as required within the production process CAD Knowledge, 3D Solidworks not essential but would be ideal.

Qualifications

Proven experience in fabrication, sheet metal work, or related manufacturing roles Knowledge of laser cutting machinery operation and safety procedures Familiarity with grinding, welding, and assembly processes is advantageous Mechanical knowledge with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications Competence in using hand tools, tooling, and basic math skills for measurements and calculations Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and quality standards Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment Prior experience working with sheet metal is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate

Pay: 12.66-17.04 per hour
