Overview

Habibi Interpreting and Translation Ltd

is seeking experienced & qualified interpreters to join our growing team. We are specifically looking for individuals proficient in the following language pairs:

Amharic Tigrinya

Duties

Provide accurate and clear interpretation services in real-time during meetings, conferences, or appointments. Translate spoken language between parties, ensuring that the original message is conveyed without loss of meaning. Assist in the preparation of documents by translating written materials when required. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times while handling sensitive information. Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and awareness to enhance communication effectiveness. Type notes and summaries post-interaction to document discussions for future reference.

Please note, each candidate must have the following:

Right to work in the country of residence Fluency in English and

preferred language

up to C1 level We may conduct a free telephone assessment and/or an online English proficiency test to verify this
Approx. 100 hours interpreting experience - either as a professional or through voluntary work Standard DBS or equivalent

Experience

Proven experience as an Interpreter or in a similar role is preferred. Bilingual or multilingual proficiency is essential; fluency in English is a must. Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and concisely. Familiarity with industry-specific terminology (e.g., medical, legal) is advantageous but not mandatory. Excellent listening skills and the ability to remain impartial during interpretations.

Having one of the below qualifications is preferred:

Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI) Community Interpreting National Registered (NRPSI) Chartered Institute of Linguists Qualifications (CIOL) Certificate in Bilingual Skills (CBS) BA in Translation or Interpreting BA in Languages, Linguistics, or any related discipline
