Location: hybrid (40% office-based in Howden House, Sheffield - team office day is Wednesday)
Are you committed to improving the lives of Sheffield's children and young people?
This is an exciting opportunity to make a lasting positive impact on the lives of children in Sheffield. Join our growing team of data professionals who, through the provision of performance insight, support the delivery and development of education and Special Educational Needs (SEND) services across the city.
We are looking to recruit two additional analysts to work within the Education and SEND team of the Children and Young People - Performance and Analysis Service (CYP-PAS), supporting teams and managers within the Belonging Directorate, covering early years, education and skills.
About the role
Following recent inspection by Ofsted, a programme of rapid improvement is being implemented across Sheffield's SEND services.
As a performance and insight service, we contribute to service improvement by making information accessible to support professional decision making at all levels.
As a member of our education and SEND team, you will play an important role in the delivery of the Sheffield SEND Improvement Plan by:

  • Strengthening data quality across the Belonging Directorate
  • Further developing existing reporting to monitor compliance with the statutory delivery of the Education, Health and Care Plan process
  • Developing new reporting to monitor progress against improvement targets set by the SEND Improvement Board
What we're looking for
We'd love to hear from you if, in addition to a high level of data analysis and communication skill and a collaborative, problem-solving approach, you have experience with any of the following:
  • MRI Education (formerly called Capita ONE Education)
  • SQL Server development, such as: building and documenting tables and investigating legacy tables
  • Power BI reporting
  • Knowledge of or interest in education/SEND
If you'd like an informal chat about the role, please contact Jennie Meadows: or 0114 293 0989.
Why join us?
As an Analyst in CYP-PAS, you will be part of an experienced, collaborative, supportive team, contributing to important local service delivery and improvement projects. You will have access to professional development and training, and the many workplace and employee initiatives and resources available.
We are investing in our workforce and are promoting opportunities to our under-represented groups. We value equality, diversity and inclusion and are focused on increasing the diversity of our workforce, particularly the number of Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic, Disabled and LGBTQ+ people, so that our teams reflect the communities in the city we serve. Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.
