This is an exciting development opportunity to support, shape and develop the Public Safety Risk Assessments, asset condition inspection and data management of the EA's Anglian Waterways.
We are looking for a committed Public Safety Risk Assessment (PSRA) assessor determined to deliver results on time and to the highest quality standards, assessing all Anglian Waterways assets & sites (e.g., lock sites, canoe portages, moorings, landing stages).
Your work will involve being out and about to assess and inspect Anglian Waterways structures and sites, including managing our asset database.
Public safety at our sites is paramount. As the Waterways Public Safety Assessor, you will:
Enhance the PSRA assessment process to ensure consistency across navigations
Deliver risk assessment and asset inspection programmes
Share best practice and collaborate with asset assessors/managers
Proactively utilise and lead on our asset management systems
Liaise with Area and national PSRA Leads
Contribute to Area local quality assurance/peer review programmes
Monitor Key Performance Indicator reports, ensuring assessments and inspections are timely and of good quality
Maintain your skills and continued professional development in public safety
Provide public safety advice regarding the navigation
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and be available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support. This may attract an additional payment, and full training and alternative working arrangements will be provided.
The team
The Waterways Assets team is responsible for managing 568 km of navigable waterways--collectively known as the Anglian Waterways including 65 locks and a marina. Our waterways support over 6,000 boats and play a vital role in the region's recreational and environmental landscape.

Experience/skills required
You will have good organisational skills with experience of data collection and an understanding of asset management (structural engineering is desirable but not essential). You will be comfortable working within a team and on your own.
You should:
be comfortable using information technology and associated software especially Microsoft Office including Excel
have Safety, Health & Environment experience
be able to work/communicate with staff and our customers
have a keenness to learn and develop
hold a Full UK driving licence
The following skills and experience are highly desirable (but training is provided):
PSRA Risk Assessor
AIMS: OM experienced user
T98 Visual Asset Inspector
Navigation asset management
You should have an enthusiasm to improve how we do things, championing efficiency and effectiveness, together with the ability to thrive in a changing, high freedom work environment.

This role is ideally based at either Brampton, Kettering or Peterborough offices. There is an expectation to come into the office on regular basis. There will be a requirement to travel two or three times per month to other offices within the area covered by Anglian Waterways.
