We are hiring!

A position has become available for a night Animal Care Assistant to work within our ECC department. This role will be working alongside another Animal Care Assistant as well as a dedicated night team including a Veterinary Surgeon, Registered Veterinary Nurses and Client Care Team members.



Role responsibilities include:Work under the direction of the Veterinary Nurse (VN) or Veterinary Surgeon (VS) at all times. Working at all times to ensure high standards of care are given. Maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout all surgical areas. Understand and adhere to the Biosecurity Policy. Completing end of day cleaning duties in accordance with cleaning task sheets. Monitor for any Health and Safety issues within the practice - and promote safe working. Stock checking all areas, and ordering via the correct methods. Answering the phone when required, and learning basic Client Care (CCT) skills to support the CC Team. To assist with the washing, storage and organization of uniform. Recycling and maintenance of the refuse area. Assistance with the management of clinical waste - to include cadavers and the associated tasks. Maintaining all client facing areas, to include - the waiting area and consult rooms. Report any equipment issues or faults to a Lead Nurse. Holding patients for blood samples and non-surgical treatments. Walking patients routinely. Theatre, Prep and X-Ray Room. Check all cupboards are fully stocked - fluids, IV lines, urinary catheters, bandage material.


About the rota

This role involves working 38.5 hours per week on a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 7:00pm-7:00am. Saturdays are on a 1:2 rota.

Our ideal candidateSound knowledge of practice protocols. Animal knowledge and handling skills. Good communication skills within the team. Familiarity with commonly used veterinary terms. Good client care skills. Competency in the use of the computer system.
