Job Summary:
To assist the clinical team in providing and maintaining a high level of clinical care. This will include ensuring our patients are kept in a comfortable and clean environment at all times, as well as setting up for clinical procedures, carrying out basic laboratory tasks, and reception duties when the appropriate level of training has been carried out.
A large aspect of the role will involve helping with daily cleaning duties and this is an essential task to maintain adequate infection control within any veterinary practice.
Responsibilities include:
Restraint of patients for examination
Setting up and cleaning down of operating theatres
Care of surgical kits including cleaning, packing and sterilisation
Ensuring correct equipment is available, such as thermometers, stethoscopes, clippers, heat mats etc
Ensuring all clinical rooms are suitably stocked with blue roll, surgical spirit, disinfectant sprays, syringes, needles and other appropriate consumables
Keeping the wards and patient areas clean, taking out patients for toilet breaks, cleaning of soiled bedding and kennels, cleaning kennels after patient has been discharged and ensuring kennel is ready for the next patient
Laundry of patient bedding and clinical clothing
Feeding patients under the guidance of the Veterinary surgeon or RVN
Reception duties
Ensuring the patients in our care are provided a stress free environment, spending time with patients, grooming and bathing
Supporting the clinical team with the day to day tasks
Keeping preparation areas clean and of a suitable clinical standard
Disinfecting of areas such as floors, walls and examination tables

Skills
Strong organizational skills
Previous experience in a veterinary setting (Desirable)* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
Proficient in handling administrative duties and client interactions
Knowledge of veterinary terminology and practices (Desirable)*
