Animal Care Auxiliary

Coventry, United Kingdom

Job Description

Pets and people at the heart of everything we do.
About Us
PDSA is a special organisation that provides expert veterinary care for people across the UK who otherwise would not be able to afford to treat their pets. What we do really matters!
Our approach is unique as we combine pragmatism with a strong client care focus to deliver good clinical outcomes - we focus on measuring our impact rather than targets.
About You
We're looking for a compassionate and reliable Animal Care Auxiliary to join our out-of-hours team, acting as the first point of contact for pet owners requiring PDSA's help and support out of hours.
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Answering emergency calls and providing reassurance to worried pet owners
  • Welcoming clients and booking them in for out-of-hours appointments
  • Handling payments and encouraging contributions from clients
  • Maintaining a clean and hygienic environment, including clinical areas
  • The role also includes a small amount of animal husbandry, providing support to the clinical team by assisting with cleaning and looking after inpatients
This role supports our dedicated out-of-hours clinical team during overnight shifts from 8pm to 8am (12 hours). The rota follows a repeating pattern: one night on followed by five nights off, then two consecutive nights on followed by four nights off. An additional 25% supplement will be paid on top of the advertised salary for unsociable hours.
You'll be part of a supportive team of four Animal Care Auxiliaries, sharing responsibility for covering annual leave and absences. From time to time, you may be asked to work additional shifts, for which overtime will be paid.
The closing date for this vacancy may be brought forward should we receive sufficient candidates.
