Job description
The Animal Care Tutor will be responsible for training and supervising learners with a range of abilities and needs, providing a high level of education in a relaxed but professional environment. This is an exciting opportunity to join our small, friendly team to work with a range of small animals. The post holder will be responsible for the planning and delivery of Level 1 and 2 qualifications in land-based subjects to young people aged between 14- 19.
We would like to welcome someone who is passionate about educating young people in a nurturing environment and has experience working with animals. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, engaging and eager to share their knowledge in an inspiring way. We are seeking someone who is creative in the way that they deliver qualifications, ensuring that learner needs are catered for. Being a good communicator, compassionate and driven to help people to meet their individual targets is imperative and having a good sense of humour is essential!
Key responsibilities and accountabilities

To participate in the animal welfare and husbandry ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare are maintained
To be responsible for an agreed teaching programme in Animal Studies
To develop, tutor and assess learners in meeting their learning goals including vocational and functional skills, in line with awarding body requirements
Teach in an age appropriate and nurturing manner
Be driven and motivated to teach and inspire
Administrative Duties including accurate records of attendance, progress, and performance, compliance with regulatory requirements and organisational policies and procedures.
Contribute to relevant and engaging curriculum development with your extensive subject knowledge and industry
Maintain resources and prepare and set up physical materials and equipment for animal care related activities
Market Animal Care within the community, working in the best interests of
Springboard always promoting and maintaining goodwill
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with animal welfare agencies and stakeholders
Assist in the development of new initiatives to support Springboard's commitment to quality and continuous improvement
Encourage and secure learner achievement, attainment and progression
Establish a learning and teaching environment in which learners
demonstrate commitment to their studies, appropriate behaviour and a high
level of motivation which promotes retention and attendance.
Carry out duties in accordance with Quality Systems and Procedures currently in force throughout Springboard Sunderland
Contribute to the maintenance of an efficient and safe environment within the guidelines of Springboard Sunderland's policies on Health and Safety, Equal Opportunities and other policy guidance

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential skills and experience
Experience of working with young people in an educational setting
Recognised Animal Welfare qualification at a minimum of Level 3
Qualified to deliver animal care qualifications up to level 2 as a minimum
Sound knowledge and experience of animal welfare legislation
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent written and verbal skills with attention to detail
Good time management and organisational skills
