We are one of the world's leading research centres for the study of prions and their wider relevance to neurodegenerative disease with a growing research activity in Alzheimer's disease (www.prion.ucl.ac.uk).



The Institute is highly multidisciplinary with close integration of structural and molecular biology, genetics, cellular and animal models, small molecule and immuno-therapeutics and clinical research.



MRC and UCL have jointly invested 30 million in provision of a dedicated new building in central London for the Institute supporting the vision to expand research in protein misfolding and aggregation in neurodegenerative disease.


About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for an Animal Technician to join our team.



We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic person to join our Biological Services Facility to provide technical support for the research facility as required by the scientific staff of the unit.



Main duties will include: animal husbandry, breeding rodents, supporting experiments and research staff, conducting physical/physiological assessments of animals and participating with the in-house training scheme when appropriate.



An acceptable DBS check is required to carry out this role



This is a fixed-term role until 31st March 2027 in the first instance.



We will consider applications to work on a part-time, flexible and job share basis wherever possible.

About you

It is essential that applicants possess four GCSEs (C or above) including English, Maths and science. It would be desirable if applicants had experience of animal technology, hold a Home Office personal licence, and possess an IAT Certificate or equivalent animal care qualification.
