Job Description

About AntennaWare

AntennaWare is a Northern Ireland-based technology company pioneering BodyWave antenna technology - a unique approach to body-centric wireless communication. Our antennas enable reliable, high-performance wireless links for wearables, medical devices, and next-generation IoT products operating in and around the human body.

We are expanding our engineering team and looking for an Antenna Engineer to contribute to the design, optimisation, and integration of our core technologies into customer products.

Role Overview

As an Antenna Engineer, you'll play a hands-on role in designing and refining antennas for body-centric wireless systems. You'll help advance our R&D, improve manufacturing and test processes, and work closely with customers to integrate AntennaWare solutions into their devices.

This role suits an engineer with a solid foundation in electromagnetics and RF engineering who's eager to apply their expertise in a cutting-edge, product-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

Design, simulate, and optimise our core BodyWave and other portfolio antenna designs using CST Microwave Studio. Develop and refine antenna manufacturing and assembly processes to improve yield and repeatability. Design and test RF front ends including matching networks, filters, LNAs, etc to support antenna performance. Perform antenna characterisation and validation using VNAs, anechoic chambers, and other RF test equipment. Support customer product integration, including testing, prototyping, troubleshooting and performance tuning. Collaborate with R&D, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to deliver robust antenna solutions. Document designs, test results, and support internal IP and patent development.

Required Qualifications

Right to work in the UK

Bachelor's degree (2:1 or above) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline. Master's degree or PhD in a relevant area (preferred). 3-7 years experience in antenna or RF engineering. Strong understanding of antenna theory, propagation, and EM simulation. Proficiency with CST Microwave Studio or other for antenna design and simulation. Experience with RF testing equipment (VNA, spectrum analyser, signal generator, etc). Practical skills in antenna prototyping and fabrication (PCB, flex, LDS or ceramic). Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.

Desirable Skills

Experience in wearable or implantable antenna design. Hands on experience using a range of wireless SoC. Experience designing and implementing UWB wireless systems. Embedded programming experience. Experience implementing localisation technologies. Familiarity with Design For Manufacture (DFM) principles. Experience with Python or MATLAB for simulation post-processing or optimisation. Customer-facing technical support or integration experience.

What We Offer

Opportunity to work at the cutting edge of wearable and body-centric communications. Collaborative, innovative work environment in a fast-growing company. Competitive salary and benefits package including private healthcare, gym membership and private car parking. Professional development and training opportunities.
