Job Description

Our Logistical Services Apprentices will play a key role working as part of our professional Animal & Plant Logistical Services team, to ensure the highest standards of service to support our world-class animal collection. A full UK driving licence is required for this role, due to travelling between sites using company vehicles.

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You'll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work



The Apprentice role is in our Animal and Plant Logistical Services team (APLS) who supply animal feed to the zoo teams. A full UK driving licence is required for this role, due to travelling between sites using company vehicles.

During your apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to:



Work alongside the logistics team, liaising with the Animal Keeping staff and Animal Nutritionist to understand the supply needs of the varying departments and how the team ensures that stock levels meet the requirement needs. Experience working with the insect breeding colony and assisting with animal quarantine duties. Understand and develop the logistical skills required to plan routes to deliver produce daily to the relevant zones across the zoo. Assist with the management of animal waste from the site using skip loaders. Be trained on tractor-based equipment such as front loaders, trailers, and grass mowers. Understand the interdepartmental communications that are needed to be effective within a logistical role and the record keeping that follows Grow your knowledge of the appropriate rules, regulations, and processes for safely and efficiently moving produce. A full UK driving licence is required for this role, due to travelling between sites using company vehicles.

Training




Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You'll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

Requirements



Essential qualifications



GCSE in:

English (grade C/4 or above) Maths (grade C/4 or above)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

Other requirements



A full UK driving licence is required with no more than 6 points.
