Our client are a leading manufacturer of standard and custom control panel solutions and associated equipment. Their specialist electrical Controls department is seeking a talented and experienced Application Sales professional to join our team and drive our business forward.

Job Overview

Our client are looking for a commercially minded individual from an electrical engineering discipline to strengthen our Application Sales team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in liaising directly with clients, generating quotations, and following up on leads. Working closely with our design team, you will be responsible for costing projects and leveraging your expertise in electrical components and motors to deliver exceptional solutions to our clients.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients in the electrical controls industry Identify new business opportunities and generate leads through various channels, including networking, trade shows, and industry events Conduct in-depth needs assessments with clients to understand their requirements and propose appropriate control panel solutions Collaborate with the design team to develop custom solutions that meet client specifications and industry standards Prepare detailed quotations, including accurate costing of projects based on electrical components, labor, and other relevant factors Follow up on quotations and leads, addressing client questions and concerns to close sales Negotiate contracts and terms with clients, ensuring favorable outcomes for both parties Provide technical support and guidance to clients throughout the sales process and beyond Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technological advancements, and competitor offerings to maintain a competitive edge Contribute to the development of sales strategies and tactics to improve department performance Maintain accurate records of client interactions, sales activities, and project details in the company's CRM system Collaborate with other departments, including engineering, production, and customer service, to ensure smooth project execution and client satisfaction Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the department

Required Qualifications

Electrical Engineering Qualification Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Application Sales within the electrical controls industry Strong technical knowledge of electrical components, motors, and control systems Proven track record of successful sales and client relationship management Excellent understanding of electrical control panel design and manufacturing processes Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and technical drawings Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop creative solutions for complex client requirements Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel for project costing and quotation preparation Familiarity with CRM systems and other sales management tools Valid driver's license and willingness to travel for client meetings and industry events
