With state-of-the-art skills in materials technology, particularly relating to elastomers, polymers, composites and engineering plastics plus extensive expertise in precision machining of exotic alloys for metallic seals, and tension control fasteners for bolted joints.
Your Role
As an Applications Engineer you will provide specialist technical advice and guidance on the product and service capabilities of James Walker's broad product range. You will ensure internal and external stakeholders and customers are supported effectively. You will also mentor and support the Technical Advisers in their support duties.
This role includes a 'hands-on' service at customer sites in the UK. There may be a requirement to travel internationally to support the EMEA Applications Engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
Give advice on seal application and fitting.
Identify the need for new products and materials supporting the MBU as required for projects that impact the UK market.
Provide conceptual designs of sealing solutions for customers.
Assist in the preparation of material specifications for new or existing products.
Assist in the preparation of product literature.
Give, and where necessary seek advice on manufacture capability.
Investigate seal failures, provide reports and recommendations.
Train, coach and mentor Advisory Technicians on JW products, attributes and application, to assist and support them in their development.
Provide guidance such that James Walker Sales Team colleagues understand and observe all applicable Company technical and quality policies.
Participate in cross-functional teams (including Sales, Marketing, Product Engineers, Test Engineers, Process Engineers) in delivering sealing solutions to customers' problems.
General CAD design experience

Incorporated Engineer IMechE (or working towards)
