Billingsgate is the UK\'s premier Inland Fish Market and is located close to Canary Wharf in London.

The market is renowned for selling fish and fish products from all over the world and over 25,000 tonnes of fish are sold by the merchants every year There are several fish and shellfish merchants operating in the Market including specialist and catering suppliers, potato, and trade sundries suppliers. Although traditionally a Wholesale Market, recent years have seen a significant increase in retail trade.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Level 3 Business Administration Apprentice to join the administrative team at Billingsgate Market. As a member of the team, you will assist with a wide range of practical administrative, financial and support services to the Market.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Dealing with enquiries from tenants, customers and staff of the Corporation by email, phone and in person.
  • Use of Microsoft Office (word, excel and outlook) in carrying out various administrative tasks.
  • Assisting with raising purchase orders for goods and services and processing invoices for payments.
  • Assisting with monitoring the car park database, processing payments for parking and issuing permits.
  • Reconciling payments received by cash and cheque and ensuring that all banking paperwork are prepared accurately.
  • Collaborating with various staff of the Corporation to facilitate smooth operations across the market.
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week. 07.00 am to 2.30pm Monday \xe2\x80\x93 Friday

This apprenticeship role is based at Billingsgate Market, Trafalgar Way, London. E14 5ST and will last for 18 months (including time to complete your End Point Assessment).

To qualify for this apprenticeship, you will need to be:
  • 16 or over by the end of the summer holidays
  • Living in England
  • Not in full-time education at the time of applying
If you are a non-UK citizen \xe2\x80\x93 you need to have permission from the UK government to live in

the UK (not for educational purposes) and have been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least the previous three years before the start of the apprenticeship.

Selected apprenticeships require evidence of English and Maths GCSE Grade C/5 or equivalent.

Prior learning: If you have prior learning e.g., a similar or higher level of qualification like the apprenticeship we will be unable to consider your application as your prior learning will not meet the funding rule criteria.
