Local friendly NHS Dental practice looking for an apprentice dental nurse to become a part of our team.
Why become a dental nurse? Nurses are a vital part of the dental care package provided to the patient and you will always find a role in the dental industry, plus once you are a fully qualified dental nurse you will find other opportunities available to you such as becoming a dental hygienist or therapist helping people to look after their teeth and gums.
You may ask what does a dental nurse do?
The nurse works chairside to the dentist, hygienist or therapist assisting with the preparation of materials and equipment require for the care of each patient.
As well as preparation, you will be required to clean equipment in the decontamination room, keep the surgery clean and sterile, you may be asked to develop radiographs (x-rays), handle and manage laboratory work and maintain stock supplies you will be provided with full training in order to carry out these duties.
The applicant will be required to be helpful, friendly and caring towards the patients, confidentiality is a vital part of the role.
You will be required to be immunised against Hepatitis B and to pass a DBS check.
Administration, you may be asked to work at the reception desk for this you will be given relevant training, on the practice database how to book appointments, taking telephone calls and how to handle payments.
You will be given full training as part of the apprenticeship and further training will be provided such as Basic Life Support and any other relevant training required for your role.
The Apprentice will run for approximately 18 months, upon completion of the training you will gain a Diploma in Dental Nursing Level 3.
The successful applicant is required to have good communication skills, a polite friendly nature, easy to get along with our small team, happy to work as part of a team or independently.
It is essential that you have good computer literacy skills, you are presentable, reliable and punctual.
Applicant minimum age 16+ suitable for school leaver, hours include training time to be discussed at interview.
