Description



The candidate will work with ACL's established team in the Paddington area and look after a selection of key accounts made up with several prestigious large-scale commercial properties. This position would suit someone who wants a challenging role, where they can learn to become a highly skilled and fully qualified Engineer.



Due to the continued growth at ACL (Alarm Communication Limited), they are recruiting for a new Apprentice Fire & Security Engineer to join their established team that maintain, install and commission systems for their clients in and around London and the surrounding counties.



The candidate will work with ACL's established team in the area and look after a selection of key accounts made up with several prestigious large-scale commercial properties, ranging across the Education, Healthcare, Hospitality, Commercial and Stadia sectors.



Most work is completed with a minimum of a two-person team due to the size and complexity of the buildings and to ensure that the work is completed efficiently and safely.



The Apprentice will work with a team of engineers who will actively mentor and support the Apprentice when onsite.



The sites are primarily long-standing prestigious contracts, so the works must be completed professionally and with exceptional levels of workmanship.



You will be learning about, and working on, installing, repairing and maintaining the following fire and security equipment:

CCTV Intruder alarms Access control Door entry/exit systems Networking equipment

Desired Qualifications:



Desired, but not necessary - Industry relevant experience. Electrical qualification. Maths and English GCSE grade 4-9 (C and above). If you have not gained your GCSE Maths and English, you will be required to complete your functional skills level 2 during your apprenticeship.



Training to be provided



Skills for Security will deliver the apprenticeship training in block release at their training centre. You will attend centre one week every eight weeks.



Fire Emergency Security Systems Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard.



You will be required to complete all training tasks allocated during your block release weeks at the training centre and gather any site evidence needed to supplement your studies.



You will be required to complete an annual assessment at the training centre and take part in any additional training courses that the company require you to complete.



The employer will mentor and coach you on the job. You will also shadow, learn and get involved in all aspects of Security alarms.



On the job training:



Working within a structured 3-year apprenticeship program, you will attend college on block release where you will be taught the required regulatory knowledge, design principles and technical skills to work comfortably on some of the most complex and advanced systems within the industry.



To compliment your college learning you will be exposed to and trained in a variety of different roles from containment and cabling installation, 2nd fix installation and commissioning, fault finding and rectification, routine servicing, and planned maintenance.



Things to consider



You will be required to travel to sites for your job role and attend the training centre every eight weeks. The apprenticeship is 28-36 months and therefore, full commitment is needed throughout.



Base salary is 16k, but negotiable depending on experience.

ACL invest heavily in their Apprentices and continue to train and support them once they become qualified engineers and progress in their careers.



The vast majority of ACL's Supervisors and Managers have trained within the business, so there are a number of options to further develop and progress within the business.
