The HR Systems & Performance team in Sheffield City Council maintains and develops a number of HR based systems whilst also extracting data that we analyse and supply to the organisation and external bodies.
We operate two primary systems, first of all a HR & Payroll system called iTrent that is used by managers and employees to submit people, pay and structure related information and for HR staff to transact those requests.
The second primary system being a Learning Management System called Docebo that supports employee e-learning and the ability to book places on learning courses/events.
We supply data and analysis to Councillors and Managers across the organisation and respond to data report requests from government departments and external bodies. This includes responding to Freedom of Information and Office of National Statistics requests.
As part of your new role, you will study for a Data Analyst level 4 qualification through Multiverse one of the Councils chosen providers for Apprenticeships, commencing in June 2025.
You can't already have a formal qualification or extensive experience in this specific discipline however ideally you will be able to provide certificates for Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths, GCSE pass or equivalent. If you don't have this, you can complete your Functional Skills whilst on the apprenticeship
When not studying for your qualification, you will be supported in learning and gaining experience in carrying out the role of a HR Information Systems & Performance Specialist.
Through this role you will work alongside a number of dedicated HR Systems & Performance team colleagues to fully exploit the improvements identified in our systems roadmap. With colleagues you will embark on a data analysis development path aimed at significantly improving the HR metrics offer to the whole organisation.
The role involves office-based and home working activities calling for good IT skills as well as the ability work autonomously to achieve excellent outcomes. Good communication skills are required as the role involves interaction with colleagues, systems end users and data report requestors.
You will need to be academically strong with good organisational skills to enable you to complete the Data Analyst level 4 qualification as well as work-based training and carrying out duties related to the role.
The apprenticeship is for 2 years, and this is a temporary post for that period, the destination post is the HR Information Systems & Performance Specialist role at Grade 8 (41,511 - 44,711), however advancement to this role would be based on successful completion of the qualification, good attendance, adherence to the values of the Council and a role being available at the time of completion.
Any employment offer is conditional upon being accepted on the Data Analyst level 4 qualification and you will be supported in making an application.
In addition to a salary the fees for the Data Analyst level 4 course will be fully met by the Council as part of a benefits package.

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
