Where will you be working?
We help our clients safeguard the water supply, improve environmental performance and manage demand for future generations. We enhance and extend asset life, ensuring compliance with water quality and environmental standards. We're problem solvers with over 140 years of combined experience in engineering and infrastructure.
This role will be within our MEICA and capital maintenance team. Our Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control & Automation (MEICA) experts offer a one-stop solution, including ongoing operation and maintenance services.
This role will be within our IOS Framework for Anglian Water, supporting the operations and completing remedial works over the Essex Suffolk and Cambridge Area

What will you be doing?
This 36-month programme will develop your practical, technical and soft-skills, with Health & Safety at the heart of everything you do. On successful completion of your apprenticeship, you will gain a Construction Quantity Surveying Technician Level 4 qualification and a permanent, long-term career with M Group Water!
As our Apprentice QS, you'll act as the commercial conscious to the integrated delivery team, providing commercial support to both the project management and on-site delivery teams.
Embracing the outperformance mentality, you'll assist the commercial team to ensure that delivery is undertaken whilst controlling costs, maximising value, minimising future liabilities and maintaining the required standard of quality and safety.
Key responsibilities:
We'll teach you to assist senior managers in the compilation of monthly commercial reports in a timely manner.
You'll be taught to assist in the collation of accurate site records in order to understand cost commitments.
You'll learn how to ensure records are kept & maintained so financial information for audits and cost assurance are readily available
You'll maintain regular site visits to ensure the works are measured accurately and all opportunities are identified.
You'll learn how to assist with the procurement and valuation of subcontract packages or work.
You'll learn how to maximise cash position by ensuring contractual payments to our supply chain are processed within contractual timescales.
You'll learn how to provide reports on actual costs vs. estimate, highlight, challenge and resolve variances.

What you'll bring
Valid UK driving licence
Have the right to work in the UK at least 4 GCSEs at Grades 4-9/ A-C including Maths, English and Science or their equivalent
A BTEC Extended Diploma, Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship or two A levels in a relevant subject such as Maths and Science.
Good IT skills / Microsoft Office (in particular Microsoft Excel)
Effective communication skills
Have good organisational skills
Keen to learn with an interest in development and progression
Passionate about the industry
Hardworking
Reliable, with excellent attendance and timekeeping
Ability to use own initiative
Must have a 'can do' attitude
