How do accounting apprenticeships work?



An apprenticeship in accounting is split between employment with the firm and external studies. One day a week might be spent working towards accountancy qualifications; the rest is spent working developing practical and relevant skills.

Responsibilities:



Working with spreadsheets, ledgers and journals, client's manual records, bank accounts statements Plan workload to ensure efficient use of time and resources, ensuring performance meets chargeable hours targets; achieve agreed recovery rate on all work General office administration duties including updating client records and jobs in lists Filing and archiving of financial statements and accounting files Answering telephone calls in the office and telephoning clients to request information There may be a need to travel to clients' premises, attend company events, some of which may be outside of normal working hours

Essential qualifications/skills:



6 GCSEs at grade 5 or above including Maths and English Proven written and verbal communication skills Excellent customer service skills IT skills with a knowledge of Microsoft Office Organisational skills with the ability to work on your own initiative with an eye for attention to detail Full UK driving license or learning to drive
