Are you passionate about fish keeping and aquariums? We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and dedicated Marine Aquarist to join our busy and expanding aquarium maintenance team. In this unique role, you will play a crucial part in maintaining both reef and freshwater systems. You will be on the road, travelling to service fish tanks for commercial and residential clients, so lone work is required.
Responsibilities:
Perform regular maintenance and servicing of freshwater and reef aquariums.
Identify and address fish/coral health issues promptly and effectively.
Collaborate closely with the client's to continuously improve displays.
Assist in the design, setup, and improvement of new and existing aquaria systems.
Manage inventory and ordering of supplies (salt mix, medications, food, etc.).
Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and the ability to take and follow instructions.
Ensure water quality management and maintain optimal living conditions for aquatic life.
Travel to various client locations for aquarium maintenance.
Be ready to roll up your sleeves and get hands-on with aquarium maintenance.
Qualifications:
Degree in Marine Biology, Aquatic Science, or related field preferred but not essential with equivalent experience.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in fish keeping is required.
Excellent knowledge of fish husbandry and aquatic ecosystems, including complex reef systems.
Possess a clean, valid UK driving license and be comfortable driving in London.
Ability to follow directions and digressions during interactions with clients.
Competency in answering questions about fish keeping, both to clients and the general public.
