We are currently looking for a new person to join our
Keeper team!
Aquarist / Seal & Penguin Keeper Cover
Skegness Natureland has been rescuing, rehabilitating and releasing orphaned and injured seal pups for 60 years. The rest of our animal collection helps to fund this work by providing visitors with a fun and educational day out as we do not receive any outside funding.
We are looking for a motivated, passionate and hard-working individual to join our team of dedicated keepers!
This role offers a fantastic opportunity to work as the main aquarist in our small aquarium, developing and modernising the current displays and set ups, housing both marine and tropical aquatic life.
This role also includes working with our Resident Seals, Penguins and rescued pups in the second part of their rehabilitation, as a cover role! This is a great opportunity to interact with our visitors and help to raise awareness for our native seals during feeding times by giving speeches to the public.
All applicants should have the following qualities;
Must have an animal related qualification equivalent to a Level 3 Diploma or above .
Must be 18 years and over
A good knowledge and experience of working with a variety of species of animals.
The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
A strong work ethic.
Must have good customer relations as you will be required to talk to the general public.
Must be confident and experience with public speaking would be preferable, as this role requires you to speak in front of a large crowd.
It would be preferable to have some experience within an aquarium or with aquatic care.
This is a Full time, permanent role averaging 40 hours per week and includes weekends and bank holidays.
