We're looking for two experienced Arborists to join our dynamic and dedicated Tree Services team, providing a full city-wide Arboricultural Service. We manage trees across the city's Highways, Parks, Housing Land, and more, and this is your chance to develop your skills and work with a team that values collaboration and safety.
About the Role:
As an Arborist at Nottingham City Council, you will be responsible for carrying out a range of tree surgery, pruning, and felling operations using specialist equipment, chainsaws, power tools, and woodchippers. The role will require you to work in a variety of environments, including highways, parks, and housing land. You will also be expected to follow health and safety procedures, complete vehicle checks, and communicate effectively with colleagues and the public.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform tree surgery, including crown lifting, dead wooding, crown reductions, and tree felling.
Operate and maintain arboricultural tools and machinery in line with industry regulations.
Carry out risk assessments and method statements to ensure safe working practices.
Maintain health and safety standards, particularly when working at heights and using various tools.
Engage with the public and stakeholders in a professional manner, including addressing issues or concerns.
Contribute to the maintenance of the Urban Forest Strategy and city-wide tree services.
Key Requirements:
A minimum of 3 years' experience in arboriculture.
Valid CS30, CS31, CS38, CS39, and CS41 or equivalent qualifications.
Pre-1997 driving licence or a Category C1+E driving licence.
Experience in operating a range of arboricultural equipment and power tools.
Thorough knowledge of safe climbing, tree health assessments, and working at heights.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication skills, especially in difficult or challenging situations.
Desirable Qualifications:
NPTC or equivalent Lantra qualifications in chainsaw operation, woodchippers, tree felling, aerial cutting, and aerial rescue.
Experience in dealing with windblown trees and emergency treework operations.
Pesticides Application Certificate (PA1 & PA6).
Large Goods Vehicle Licence and CPC Trained with current DQC Card.
New Roads and Streetworks Act (NRSWA) Qualification.
Nationally recognised Arboriculture or Horticulture qualifications.
