The Arborist is responsible for carrying out all types of tree work, including climbing, pruning, and removing trees, in a safe and efficient way. The role is physically demanding and requires a good understanding of arboricultural practices, health and safety protocols, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Responsibilities
Perform all aspects of tree surgery including climbing, pruning, felling, dismantling, and deadwood removal
Use rope and harness systems, MEWPS, rigging equipment, and chainsaws at height
Communicate clearly with grounds crew to ensure safe and efficient operations
Comply with all relevant health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures
Deliver high-quality work
Assist with site cleanup, chipper operation, and waste management
Maintain a tidy and respectful working environment at all times
Requirements
Essential:
Relevant NPTC / City & Guilds qualifications (e.g., CS30, CS31, CS38, CS39)
Proven experience in tree climbing and aerial tree work
Good physical fitness and the ability to work at height
Full UK driving licence
Ability to work effectively in a team and follow instruction
Desirable:
CS40/CS41 (aerial pruning and rigging)
First Aid at Work certificate (ideally +F)
Experience with MEWPs (Mobile Elevated Work Platforms)
